Cristian Fernandez is only 12 years old. And if Florida prosecutor Angela Corey has her way, he’ll never leave jail again.
Cristian hasn’t had an easy life. He’s the same age now as his mother was when he was born. He’s a survivor of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. In 2010, Cristian watched his stepfather commit suicide to avoid being charged with abusing Cristian.
Last January, Cristian was wrestling with his 2-year-old brother, David, and accidentally broke David’s leg. Despite this, their mother left Cristian with his brother again in March. While the two boys were alone, Cristian allegedly pushed his brother against a bookcase, and David sustained a head injury. After their mother returned home, she waited six hours before taking David to the hospital. David eventually died.
Now Cristian is being charged with first degree murder — as an adult. He’s the youngest person in the history of his Florida county to receive this charge, and his next hearing is scheduled for tomorrow.

As I sit on my couch watching my favorite movie and drinking hot chocolate on a chilly winters night, i think of how blessed I am.There are just certain moments, like tonight, where i feel 100% content with who i am and the life i lead, and in these moments nothing can break this sweet feeling of undying bliss.It’s those moments when i am so high on life and everything it entails that it’s almost like i become someone else. I guess it’s because happiness is more than just a mood .Happiness has the power to transform a person. These moments are rare but so greatly needed. Happiness is a hard thing to posess. Sadness is much easier because it is surrender but happiness means letting go of all inhibitions and just living. These moments remind me that no matter what happens, life goes on. There is no problem big enough to bring me down from this “high”. No obstacle is too big. I may not have what i love but i love what i have and that is more than most people can say. The happiest people in life do not have it all they just make the best of what they have. My life is perfectly imperfect and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

I just found out today that “hiccups” is a made up word in my imagination and the real word for this phenomenon is “HICCOUGHS”.
So, for future reference don’t ever laugh when someone tells you they have the “hiccoughs” and resist the urge to correct them and say “did you mean hiccups?” because a) you are not google and b) you will only make a fool of YOURSELF.
I speak from experience i have spent 18 years using the word “hiccups”…
